9:04pm, Fri 22 Jun 2012 :  Forum Brings Employers And Job Seekers Together

Video Title: Mayor Jennifer Whitney, Mayor of Whitsunday Regional Council

Video Title: Matt Lloyd General Manager of Fantasea's Whitsunday operation

Employers came out in force tonight in a wonderful showing of community for which Airlie Beach is so famous. More than 25 employers ranging from landscapers, retail large and small unleashed a volume of jobs with this unique and spontaneous event. Words from Christie Leet from PRD Whitsunday, Whitsunday Regional Council Major Jennifer Whitney, Fantasea General Manager Matt Lloyd and Councillor and local identity Kevin Collins reiterated the need for community support.

Amongst the job seekers, some uncertainty is still evident, but for most part were hopeful of gaining work within the ranks of Cruise Whitsunday or work elsewhere in Airlie Beach. It was clear that no one was looking forward to having to pack and leave town.

Easily forgotten is the range of staff that make up Fantasea's local operation that are definitely seeking work. Fantasea's staff roster is much more than a marine industry types as attendance confirmed tonight. Highly skilled reservations staff, sales people, accountants, catering and qualified marine biologists are amongst the ranks of people potentially leaving town if they do not find suitable work so further job opportunities are still invited.
