The first guests are still a month or two away, but already the guest list is pretty impressive.
Whitsunday Reflections, Airlie Beach's newest resort, will soon open its doors to holiday-makers and investors looking for good holiday rental yields should be happy with bookings to date.
On-site managers, Colin Mosen and Vicki Taylor, agreed Airlie Beach had seen better seasons for tourism but they were more than happy with bookings. "The two companies we have been working with have good databases and we already have excellent bookings for the resort, right through to February next year," Vicki said. "We're extremely happy with the bookings and also the rates we are achieving."
Colin and Vicki have a wealth of experience in the hospitality industry - in Australia and New Zealand. Vicki gained full-time employment from work experience while studying tourism and management at university and spent five years in Rotorua before moving to Auckland to focus on the corporate market for hotels. She and Colin moved to Australia in 1998, originally to work in hotels in Brisbane. After a five-year stint at Ayers Rock Resort, they moved to the Gold Coast to work with Stella Resorts.
Now working with Blue Chip Accommodation, they have taken on the management of Whitsunday Reflections and they are loving their new role and their new home. "This is a great job," Vicki said. "It's a great building to work with and the Airlie Beach product is amazing."
Colin and Vicki have been busy making preparations at Whitsunday Reflections, but have also found time to familiarise themselves with the Whitsundays. "We've been sampling the local tourism and had the best time," she said. "We had a fantastic time on Maxi Ragamuffin and we've also had our first trip out to the reef with Fantasea. We're looking forward to promoting the local tourism because the Whitsundays is an amazing region and we love the relaxed atmosphere."
In the meantime, they are kept busy ensuring every single component of an excellent holiday stay works to perfection.
